Did you have the chance to wander through the refreshed corridors of Salone del Mobile 2025?
We immersed ourselves in the aisles of the Classic and Contemporary pavilions — specifically Halls 13 and 15 — exploring how Italian design tradition was interpreted this year. We’ve focused here on seven standout themes that emerged across many booths.
Trend No. 1: Ironic Elegant Style
Elegance at Salone 2025 went beyond flawless classical furnishings — many interiors featured a playful twist. Think porcelain bull trophies with nose rings, turned into wall sconces mounted on dark green classical paneling. Oversized, pop-patterned guard dogs stood at luxury thresholds. Delicate glass birds perched on Murano centerpieces as though sipping from iconic amphoras. These whimsical touches remind us not to take things too seriously — design should bring joy, too.
Trend No. 2: The Botanical Comeback in Winter Gardens
Sustainability remained a strong theme. While last year’s displays celebrated Mediterranean flora in outdoor spaces, this year greenery took over interiors — especially within classical-inspired winter gardens.
Desert-like tropical plants glowed under minimalist spotlights, transforming spaces into magical escapes. Murano glass floor lamps shaped like wildflowers lit up living rooms and hotel lobbies in a refreshing, spring-inspired look — especially from the renowned Barovier & Toso.
Trend No. 3: Total White
White never goes out of style — especially in pre-summer months. This year, it stood out when paired with golden wooden frames and gypsum boiserie.
While last year’s whites were softened with earthy patinas and dusty tones, 2025 interiors were cleaner and more defined. Gold accents framed settings where white upholstery made rooms feel even more expansive.
Trend No. 4: The Fabulous 60s
Lovers of mid-century minimalism were treated to a revival of the 1960s — reimagined in a fresh, essential way.
Sculptural marble tables, pastel-toned lighting, and refined ceramics, porcelain, and glass accessories offered a sleek, modern vibe. Geometric chandeliers and smooth, faceted surfaces enhanced these spaces.
Upholstery in bouclé, velvet, chenille, and eco-leather featured monochrome palettes — balanced by bold, optical-patterned cushions in mocha mousse, clay, pastel yellow, cerulean, and timeless black and white.
Trend No. 5: Bouclé & Swivel Living
As in 2024, bouclé remained a star fabric — offering cozy elegance across living and bedroom furniture.
But this year’s standout feature? Swivel armchairs. Designed as stylish “cocoons,” these chairs are no longer static. They rotate — supported by wood or metal bases — making it easier to stay social without turning your back on anyone.
Trend No. 6: Porcelain Effect Wood & Jewel-like Furniture
Timeless elegance was celebrated with carved and applied details that mimicked porcelain.
Found especially on natural-toned sideboards and consoles, neoclassical and baroque motifs appeared fresher thanks to gesso-colored lacquered finishes with porcelain-like brightness.
Also trending: precious stone inlays and metallic jewels — adorning indoor seating and even outdoor chairs. Caracole, for example, highlighted outdoor models with silver-finished structures studded with crystal embellishments.
Trend No. 7: Shimmering Dark
White wasn’t the only “non-color” making waves — black also had its moment.
Low-lit, moody atmospheres suited to both homes and executive offices stood out. Transparent wall bookcases and smoked-glass panels were softly backlit, framed in copper and gunmetal for structure. Retro armchairs and streamlined sofas sat beside mixed-material coffee tables — marble, wood, and metal blending seamlessly.
At Bazzi Group, we embraced the “Fabulous 60s” trend with our Eucalyptus armchair — a round, dark-eucalyptus-upholstered design perfect for pairing with sculptural or oval marble tables. It’s our way of celebrating classic lines with contemporary flair.
Salone del Mobile 2025 has proven to be much more than a trade show.
It’s a global meeting point — where Australians, Americans, Japanese, Europeans, Arabs, and design lovers from every corner of the world come together, united by the enduring beauty of Italian artistry and the innovation of true Made in Italy design.
